DALE AUSTIN – TMCC 2018 Senior Champion (joint) Interview

Congratulations on being the TMCC 2018 (joint) Senior Champion, Dale, and coming 1st in the Pro 250, 1st in the Women’s and 2nd in the Pro 450.
Did you become interested in bikes because of someone else or something in particular?
My Dad and Mum
At what age did you first ride a motorbike?
4 years old
What sort of bike was it?
Where did you ride it?
Taree Motorcycle Club and Macleay District Motorcycle Club
What other bikes have you had over the years?
PW50, KX65, Junior Speedway Bike, Quad bike, Banshee, Thumpstar 125, CBR250, HYOSUNG 650, Honda CT110 Postie Bike, YZ125, YZ250F and YZ450F
Do/did other members of your family ride motorcycles and what sort of riding were they interested in?
My Dad raced when he was younger in South Australia and returned to the track when Erin and I started out as juniors. He raced all types of bikes at: Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club – Molly Milligan’s, Vintage Motocross, Macleay District Motorcycle Club, Nulla Nulla-Enduro, Taree Motorcycle Club, Tamworth Moore Creek Speedway and Newcastle Showground. He still has his Harley Davidson and a Quad Bike.
Erin, my sister, raced as well in Dirt Track competing as a junior and junior speedway. She was the first girl in NSW to race a junior speedway bike and we were the first sisters in NSW.
My Mum rides as well. She has owned a few bikes herself, 250 VStar and she now owns an 800 Speed Master.

Women’s Open, Pro 250, Pro 450 and Pro Open

Did you travel to any ‘away meetings’ this year?
Yes, Gunnedah for the Twilight – Week of Speed, NSW Titles and Tri Series. Tamworth for the 70th Anniversary Meeting and Cessnock for the Australian Postie GP.
Was there one particular (home or away) event which you enjoyed most this year?
NSW Titles Gunnedah
Is there any part of the TMCC (home) track which you enjoy riding on most?
All of it
Do you have any suggestions as to what else you would like to see happening at TMCC?
More women in racing and I can’t wait to see the lights become a reality
What events are you looking forward to next year?
TMCC Twilight Meeting, NSW Titles, GMCC Twilight – Week of Speed, Grafton Jacaranda Dirt Drags, Akubra Classic and Australian Postie GP
