Taree Motorcycle Club held a combined Practice and “Come-and-Try” Day at its Old Bar Roadside Circuit on Sunday 7th April 2019.
While both Seniors and Juniors took the opportunity to gain track time and practice, the “Come-and Try” component consisted of non-competitive, Minikhana-style exercises and basic rider training for Juniors only.
As well as those consistent regulars at the track, two (2) Senior riders, Casey Heatley and Shane Richards, travelled from Sydney to take part in the Practice Day and have a ride on the TMCC oiled, dirt track. The Club was pleased to welcome Casey and Shane along with Casey’s dad, Greg, who is President of Macarthur Motorcycle Club. The three visitors enjoyed the day, commenting that they would come again.
Race Secretary, Lise Olsen, commented that Juniors Tyler Harrison and Liam Erickson rode on the oil track for the first time and they enjoyed it.
A number of Juniors, having finished practising on the oil track, joined the new Juniors riders in the Minikhana-style activities.
Lise reported that the Club welcomed new Juniors Chloe Bisley, Hayden Ellis, Riley Fazio, Carter Fergus, David Fergus and Blake Nicholson to the “Come-and-Try” exercises.
Newly elected Taree Motorcycle Club Vice President, Ian Bisley, ran the “Come-and-Try” with the assistant of parents, particularly John. Ian himself is an accomplished motorcycle rider, and among other notable achievements, he was the Australian Dirt Track Pro 450cc Champion in 2013.
Prior to Sunday, as well as advising that the “Come-and-Try” was non-competitive, newly re-elected Taree Motorcycle Club President, Troy Baker, said that “We’ll be doing some exercises involving witches’ hats – like figure eights, slow races, etc., whilst teaching correct riding technique.”
In response to a Motorcycling NSW initiative, Troy has advised that TMCC is planning to hold a “Come-and-Try” on a regular basis on practice days and that “knobby” tyres are permitted in the “Come-and-Try” activities.
Taree Motorcycle Club thanks everyone who came to the track on Sunday to take part in (or watch) Practice and/or the “Come-and-Try” and additionally, the Club appreciates the time and effort put in by its members and others to make the day enjoyable.
