On Sunday 12th May 2019, a contingent of five (5) Taree Motorcycle Club riders and their support crews travelled to Macleay District (Kempsey) Motorcycle Club’s Greenhill Speedway to compete in the 2019 NSW Senior Dirt Track Championship.
TMC Seniors, Kye Andrews #112, Dale Austin #134 and Daniel Evans #122 competed in the main classes while Juniors, Hayden Grant #321 and Thoren Openshaw #296, competed in the support classes.
Kye, Dale, Hayden and Thoren all achieved podium finishes, while Daniel qualified for the final of the Pro Open class.
Kye Andrews was 3rd placed in the MX Open Class and Dale Austin was 1st placed in the Open Women’s Class.
Hayden Grant was 1st placed in the 65cc 7-U9yrs Class and Thoren Openshaw was 1st placed in the 85/150cc 9-U13yrs SW Class and 3rd placed in the 65cc 9-U13yrs Class.
Kempsey Seniors, James Chapman, Jarryd Oram, Josh Scott and Lewis Tyne, who all competed at Taree’s Championship Round 2 the weekend before, were all fast on their home track and were among those riders on the podium at Kempsey on Sunday.
James Chapman was 1st placed in the MX Open Class and 2nd placed in the Pro Open Class. Jarryd Oram was 1st placed in the Pro Open and 2nd placed in both the Pro 450 and MX Open, while accomplished rider, Jamie Oram, was placed 2nd in the Over 35’s Class. Josh Scott was 3rd placed in both the Pro 250 and the 19” Flat Track Classes and Lewis Tyne was placed 1st in the Under 19’s Class.
Kempsey Junior, Jarrod Loveday, who rode for Taree in the ‘Coast v Country’ race meeting and achieved podium finishes, was 1st placed in the 250cc 13-U16yrs Support Class and Kempsey Junior, Harvey Nicholson, who achieved a podium finish in the TMCC Championship Round 2, was 3rd placed in the 65cc 7-U9yrs Support Class at the Senior Championship event.
Well done to all riders for their efforts at the Senior Championships and congratulations to those who achieved podium positions and to the Kempsey club for a successful Senior Championship event.
The racing continues at Taree’s Old Bar Roadside Circuit on Sunday 19th May 2019 when Taree Motorcycle Club will hold Round 3 of its Club Championship. Following the success of its 5th May Championship Round 2, the Club is confident Round 3 will provide similar interest for both Senior and Junior riders as well as for spectators.
As the July 2019 NSW Junior Dirt Track Championship to be held at Taree is getting closer, it is expected that many of the Juniors who will be entering in that race meeting will be taking the opportunity to ride on Taree’s oiled dirt track in preparation for the State Championship event.
Additionally, those Seniors who appreciate the opportunity to gain competition track time on the oiled dirt when the opportunity is available and those who can increase their 2019 Championship points, will no doubt have their riding skills on exhibition again at the Old Bar Roadside Circuit this coming Sunday.
