TMCC has been very fortunate to have had many people generously volunteer
to help with the Canteen in the past.
The Club particularly appreciates those who have volunteered their help
on an on-going basis previously
and we acknowledge, with many thanks, those who have ‘stepped up’ at short notice
to fill the positions on the day when extra help was necessary straight away.
Many of these volunteers could have spent the day relaxing on the spectator hills watching family members or friends racing
but instead took on the task of working in the Canteen
to provide food and drinks to the customers.
This year we are asking that those among you
who would be willing and able to give of their time and effort to assist with
the Canteen to let the Club know.
The TMCC Canteen has a commercial standard kitchen,
appointed with all the necessary equipment to allow us to provide for small groups through to thousands at the largest race meeting (eg. previous Troy Bayliss Classics).
Canteen assistance is required before opening; at opening time; during the busy peak lunch time; during the quieter in-between hours; and after the Canteen closes.
Examples of the sort of Canteen tasks you can help with are as follows:
Clean-up, organise and ready the Canteen and adjoining area
Pick-up the bread and meat order and transport to the track
Prepare food, eg. salad, coleslaw, cut onions
Put together and wrap-up the orders
Make coffee and tea
Serve the customers
Help with the eskies for volunteers around the track
Re-stock the drinks’ fridge and chips’/sweets’ stand
Store food needing to be refrigerated/frozen and pack away other food items
Wash, dry and pack away equipment
Clean over barbecue, microwave, benches
Clean the floor.
The provision of both hot & cold food and drinks
to riders & support teams, spectators, officials, volunteers and invited guests
at the track is important.
While people may bring their own food and drinks,
they still use the canteen for extras,
and others will fully rely on the Canteen when they are hungry and thirsty.
Consider working within the “engine room” of the Canteen, preparing and cooking
or you may prefer to be at the front counter and deal with the customers,
where you can give a warm welcome to all
and share the friendliness of TMCC with the locals and visitors as you are serving them.
Think about helping with the Canteen and preparing its surrounds
before opening or after closing.
You may be available regularly during the year or on certain occasions
or when needed on the day. You may be able to do a short or a long ‘shift’.
Whatever help you can offer would be most appreciated.
An attraction of being in the Canteen is the large window facing the track
to allow workers to view the action in-between their tasks
and an added bonus is the toilet internally adjoining the Canteen
which allows workers easy access to the amenities on a busy day.
Parents, grandparents, carers, husbands & wives, partners,
brothers & sisters, aunties & uncles, cousins, friends,
interested community members and even riders themselves
can all volunteer to help with Canteen tasks.
Although we’d like volunteers to be members of TMCC,
they don’t have to be.
The Club asks that you contact Jodie Nelson
on mobile number 0409 566 739 (or speak to her at the track)
if you are able to volunteer or even if you are considering being available at some time. On behalf of TMCC, Jodie will be pleased to hear from you
and will certainly warmly welcome your offer to volunteer in the Canteen.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Jodie when you talk to her.
Working in the Canteen
is another way you can be part of the
great Taree Motorcycle Club team!
