Taree Round of the Tri-Series 3rd November and the Akubra Classic 4th November 2018

Posted on November 2, 2018 by Administrator

The Taree round of the Tri-Series will be held on Saturday 3rd November 2018 at the Taree Motorcycle Club complex on Old Bar Road, Pampoolah and the rescheduled Akubra Classic will be held on Sunday 4th November at Kempsey Motorcycle Club’s Greenhill Speedway.

The Tri-Series is held between Taree, Gunnedah and Kempsey Motorcycle Clubs. There are three rounds over the year, with one round held at each club’s track. All three clubs have (oiled) dirt tracks.

The first round of the Tri-Series was run at Gunnedah on the 17th June at Balcary Park, the second round was set down for Taree on the 3rd November and the third round was set down for Kempsey on the 4th November.

However, the Kempsey round has been replaced by the rescheduled Akubra Classic which was called off on the 26th August due to rain.

Seniors and Juniors will be racing on Saturday and there will be a “Demo” ride for 4-U7 year olds. The classes to be run at the Taree Tri-Series meeting on the 3rd are 50cc Demo (4-U7yrs), 65cc 7-U9yrs, 65cc 9-U13yrs, Mods 7-U10yrs, Mods 10-U14yrs, 85/150 9-U11yrs, 85/150 11-U13yrs, 85/150 BW 11-U13yrs, 85/150 BW 13-U16yrs, 100-150 2st 13-U16yrs, 200-250 4st 13-U16yrs, Pro 250, Pro 450, Pro Open, Women’s, Over 35s, MX Open, Clubman’s, Sidecar and ATV.

With three rounds per class at the Tri-Series meeting on Saturday and only an overnight turn-around (and travel) before the Akubra on Sunday, it will be a challenging weekend of racing for those riders competing in both the Tri-Series and the Akubra.

As the Akubra Classic is an open meeting, it is anticipated that it will take priority for a number of riders who would have otherwise competed at the Taree Tri-Series round on the day before. In that regard, Taree Motorcycle Club appreciates the entry in the Taree round by those riders who will be racing on both days on the weekend.

Taree Motorcycle Club riders, #112 Kye Andrews, #122 Daniel Evans, #134 Dale Austin, #44 Sophie Tuck, #291 Zane Hopkins, #321 Hayden Grant, ##19 Cody Wilby, #44 Liam Tuck, #45 Will Bisley, #279 Hayden Nelson, #296 Thoren Openshaw, #107 Mitchell Bisley and #18 Blake Wilby, were entered to race in the 26th August Akubra Classic.

While, the majority of our riders listed above are re-entered in the 4th November Kempsey event, many of them will also be competing for their Club at Taree on Saturday with the other Taree Motorcycle Club riders.

The Club is confident of plenty of racing action and as this is the last competitive event for this year at their Old Bar Roadside complex and as the meeting is between three motorcycle clubs, Taree Motorcycle Club is hoping for a good spectator attendance at the track on Saturday.

All riders, their support crews and spectators are welcome. Gates open at 7:00am and Sign-in is from 7:30am until 9:00am and there will be full canteen facilities available on the day.
