Dear Committee Members

Re: Taree Motorcycle Club 2018 Club Person of the Year

I extend congratulations to all award recipients from the Taree Motorcycle Club (TMC) Presentation Day held at the Old Bar Roadside circuit on Sunday 2nd December 2018.

I would like to add that while it certainly was a day to applaud those who achieved first, second and third place on the podium and to celebrate those who received encouragement and improvement awards, it was also a day to acknowledge all others who combine to make TMC the Club it is.

On the podium or participating, all TMC riders, Junior and Senior, are an important part of the Club and all members, volunteers, officials, visiting riders, spectators, interested persons, followers and sponsors similarly play an essential role in TMC.

While Barry and Daniel Evans were first involved with TMC in the late 1980s, I had never been to the Old Bar Roadside circuit until 2013, when the Evans invited me to the Troy Bayliss Classic. To experience the event, to watch one of my great sporting heroes, three-time World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss, race at the Taree track and to meet Troy, was amazing.

Sometime later, as Daniel re-entered the world of motorbike riding (after decades out of the sport) with the assistance of TMC generally and a number of TMC individuals specifically, both Barry and I became involved with the Club.

Through this involvement, I experienced a hard-working, supportive, functioning sporting group where all contributed their skills and time and worked as a team to ensure TMC succeeded and readily extended their friendship to us.

While I have minimal motorcycle knowledge, I also wanted to contribute to the Club in an area in which I am familiar, namely writing.

When I read the other twenty-two (22) names on the shield, and know that each one of those people has made notable contributions to the Club, I most sincerely thank Taree Motorcycle Club for the honour of being named 2018 Club Person of the Year and in so doing making me part of the history of this great Club.

May Taree Motorcycle Club continue to prosper into the future.

Yours sincerely
